About us

The Educational Centre is a noncommercial public organization, which was created in 1993 with the purpose of supporting the development of Endoscopic and Gynecological Surgery in Russia. It functions as an extension of the Kazan State Medical Academy, which was founded in 1922 and was the first postgraduate institute for doctors in Russia.
Accreditation and Licenses:
- The Educational Centre is accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Tatarstan Republic, in the Russian Federation to provide postgraduate advanced medical education. (License № 724, issued on February 25, 2005.)
- Kazan State Medical Academy is accredited by the Ministry of Education in the Russian Federation to provide postgraduate medical education. (License № 25-092 issued on January 31, 1998.)
Achieved Results:
Since 1993, more than 200 short-term, six to twelve day retraining cycles for doctors have been initiated at the Educational Center in the following areas of study:
- Laparoscopic surgery
- Laparoscopic gynecological surgery
- Emergency laparoscopic surgery
- Thoracoscopic surgery
- Endoscopic rhinosurgery
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Hernia surgery
- Sclerotherapy
- Endoscopic subfascial dissection of perforating veins
In general more than 1,500 doctors from Russia and CIS countries have been trained at the Center. Since the center’s inception, such training has resulted and enhanced more than 200 thousand endosurgical operations. A recent survey, in February 2005, indicates students administered to medical complications not exceeding those of recorded European levels.
Training is performed at the Kazan State Medical Academy and the Kazan State Medical University, two leading clinics in the city of Kazan.
The Centre is currently carrying out broad scientific work: new medical technologies are being worked out and applied, educational supplies and textbooks are being issued, and video training films are being recorded. For example, the specialists at the Centre were the first in the Region and the second in Russia to perform successful laparoscopic cholecystectomies. The specialists of the Centre are also active members of different surgical societies and constantly take part in scientific forums.
